Our History
Nyeri Good Shepherd Academy has a rich history that traces back to its humble beginnings. Here is a chronological account of its noteworthy milestones:
Founded
1993Thomas Gatura Gathu, Stephen Wanyoike Gathu, and Peter Gatheru Gathu, three visionary brothers founded Nyeri Good Shepherd Nursery School. Initially, it served as a preschool nurturing young minds in their formative years.

Primary Section Introduction
1994The school expanded its offerings and introduced the Primary section, transforming into Nyeri Good Shepherd Academy. It adopted the 844 system of education, providing a comprehensive and well- rounded academic curriculum.

KPSA Registration
1998As a testament to its commitment to quality education, the school became a registered member of the Kenya Private School Association (KPSA). This affiliation further solidified its dedication to upholding educational standards.

First Graduation
2001The first set of candidates from Nyeri Good Shepherd Academy sat for their Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations. This was a milstone as it marked a pivotal moment for the school and its students, highlighting their academic achievements.

Introduction of new curriculum
2016Keeping pace with educational advancements, Nyeri Good Shepherd Academy implemented the Competence-Based Curriculum. This modern approach aimed at equiping students with practical skills and knowledge to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

Celebrating 30 Years
2023Celebrating its 30th anniversary, Nyeri Good Shepherd Academy embarked on yet another educational venture. The school introduced the Junior Secondary section under the Competence-Based Curriculum, further expanding to respond to evolving needs of its students and the curriculum demands. Throughout its journey, Nyeri Good Shepherd Academy has remained committed to providing quality education and nurturing young minds. With a blend of tradition and innovation, the school continues to shape the future of its students and make a positive impact on the community.

Introduction of JSS
